Weekly Review Four:
So, this week has been my favorite by far! I started off my week by attending Woodland Hills church on Sunday morning and heard Ted Cunningham talk sacrificial love. Loving with easy love is simply easy, but loving unconditionally and sacrificial came be rather difficult. That is what Christ displayed for us. He loves us with no demands and no expectations. Love with Christ like love. The next day, I spent my morning during Mystery Monday. My family group was given a red paperclip and we proceeded to play the game Bigger and Better. You trade your item to something better every trade. My group finished with a TV and a binder full of baseball cards! It was a lot of fun learning how to trade and negotiate with people around Branson.
Our speakers for this week were the Adams. Adam Donyes and Adam Martin. We learned how to manage time, money, and ourselves. On Tuesday, Donyes spoke on how to manage our time. He asked us to fill out a 5:30am-11pm schedule by writing out what we did every 30 minutes. It was really good to write out all the things I spend my time doing. This revealed how much free time I really do have, and the time I waste doing absolutely nothing. I learned that I need to manage my time, or time will manage me! One thing I need to work on from this talk, is that no is not a cuss word! I need to seek out Galatians 1:10 that says, “For am I now seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” I need to stop trying to please people, and start trying to please Christ! Learn to say no!
Wednesday, my absolute favorite day of the week, started bright and early at 8:30am! Adam Martin talked to us about managing our money. It was hard for me to really put this into action, considering the fact that I don’t really have money to manage. I learned a lot of great tools to keep for the future though. I did make myself a budget for the money I receive each week from my parents and from the tutoring that I do. I want to save a majority of my money each week and put it aside for February when I go to Ireland, which I’m totally pumped for! Jesse Anne and I actually made decorated mason jars to put our extra money in to make it fun to save for our trip. This Wednesday night at the Fort Joey Tisdale, one of my favorite guys in the world, preached Proverbs 6. The first main verses he focused on were 6-11. He said we will come to the point in our lives where we don’t have someone pushing us towards the cross daily and we need to learn disciple, so when that day comes, we are prepared. One way to disciple was memorizing scripture. His word will never return in void. Meditate on it daily. He asked us the question: What are you doing to know God? I thought to myself, what am I doing? I sat there for a second and said, “Well for starters, I am here at the Link Year, growing in the Word daily. I’m diving in the Word every night. Gaining wisdom and knowledge. I’m getting Godly council, and surrounding myself with a community of believers. I need to work on memorizing scripture. Writing it on my heart.” Hold me accountable for that!
Thursday morning started out with me meditating on Psalm 119:9-16. Go read it now. Such a powerful word! Thankfully, Adam Donyes spoke again. My favorite! I learned how to manage self. My favorite quote from today was, “Stale godliness is ungodliness. Let our religion be as warm, and constant and natural as the flow of the blood in our veins. A living God must be served in a living way.”- C.H. Spurgeon. So powerful! There are so many things I was reminded of today that were so awesome. One of my favorite things about Donyes talks is the visuals he gives us. He is so easy to understand and relatable. He also gives us a list of verses to look up to back up whatever he says, because “If it don’t match the Word, forget what you heard!” I ended the day by having one on one time with Stephanie Donyes. She is so great. Oh my goodness. So blessed to be able to spend time with her weekly! She is a woman falling super hard after Christ, and it shows. And I love it. Love her!
Well, that is all for this week! We have Parents Weekend coming up tomorrow, so that is something to get excited about! Sorry I did not blog last week!
